Wines of the Iberian Peninsula!

Terra Antigua ’07 Vinho Verde (Portugal)A blend of Alvaringo and Trajadura, the wine shows citrus fruity aromas. Very soft in the mouth with tones of freshness. Incredibly easy drinking, with citrus and green apple notes--totally drinkable by itself, as well as with light fish and seafood dishes, soft cheeses, or pasta with cream sauce. In short, a wonderful, crisp white house wine to stock up on for the spring months.

Bodegas Guelbenzu ’07 Red (Spain)2007 Bodegas Guelbenzu Red is a blend of 45% Merlot, 30% Syrah, 18% Tempranillo and 7% Graciano. It sees no oak and is made in a more international style, so it is supposed to be more fruit forward. Easy drinking and smooth, with plenty of red fruit flavors as well as hints of herbs. It has a bit more exotic flavor than a pure Merlot but also differs from a more dominant Tempranillo blend. This is a good pizza or burger wine, an easy quaffer that is sure to please.

Grilos ’06 Dao Tinto (Portugal)Aged six months in French Oak, Grilos is a blend of Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro. The color is an intense ruby. The aroma shows notes of red fruits, black cherry and raspberry. In the mouth it has an excellent balance between acids and tannins.

2007 Marques de Caceres Rosado RiojaVivid, pale raspberry color. Charming bouquet of red berries with a hint of fragrant flowers. Lusciously fresh in the mouth with full fruit and good structure. The perfect Rose for fish and a perfect accompaniment to most Mediterranean cuisine.

2005 SextoThe 2005 Sexto is a red blend from the Terra Alta DO in northeastern Spain. Its name means "sixth," as it was the sixth grape – the relatively obscure Lledoner Pelut Noir – added to the blend of Grenache, Carignan, Tempranillo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah that winemaker Laely Heron credits with adding an extra layer of complexity that made all the difference. "Laely Heron's Garnacha-driven six-variety Spanish blend is searing and nervy with ripe plum and blackberry fruit; modern in style with stunning balance. 91 points ." - Anthony Dias Blue

2006 Quinta de Bons-VentosVery aromatic with notes of ripe black and red fruit. On the palate, has a fruity attack with a fat and rich substance that balances with oak notes and agreeably pronounced acidity. The fresh yet fine tannins take over at the finish and flavors of pepper and licorice dominate. Castelão (Periquita), Camarate, Tinta Miúda and in a smaller proportion Touriga Nacional.
